1 – Contents and aims:
The Association Rive Gauche – Festival, Florence, Italy, is pleased to announce the 8th Firenze FilmCorti Festival.
The Festival aims at promoting the collaboration and competition between young directors and the promotion and distribution of audio-visual works from all over the world. The Festival also wants to encourage and facilitate participants in their contacts with producers, distributors, actors etc who will be guests of the event.
2 – Festival Categories:
a – fiction short films
b – documentaries
c – innovative and experimental films
d – animations, cartoons and films for young people and schools
e – screenplays
f – ‘spazio giovani’ (Young category) – for films and videos made by the students of Academies, Universities, High Schools, Colleges and Cinema and Film Schools in Italy or abroad.
The category should be specified by the participating artist at the time of submission.
3 – Schedule:
The 8th Firenze Filmcorti Festival will take place in the following venues in Florence: Murate Art District (MAD), Piazza de Le Murate, Limonaia di Villa Strozzi and Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze – all in Florence.
The Festival is scheduled, for the categories a,b,c,d, from the 22nd to the 25th of September 2021 (Semifinalist shotlist).
Category “e” (Screenplays) is scheduled on Ocotber 30, 2021.
The award for category “f” Youth Giovani (Student category award) is scheduled on 18th and 19th of November 2021.
Call for entries is now open. Deadline for entries (categories a,b,c,d: 20th of August 2021.
Deadline for entries for Screenolays and Spazio Giovani (Student category): 10th of October 2021.
The Authors of the shortlisted films – as part of the ‘Official selection’ days – will be notified before the 5th of September 2021.

Travel and accommodation expenses, and living costs, are not covered and will not be refunded.
4 – Requirements:
Films: All the submitted film should not be longer than 40 minutes, included film credits.
Animation and films for young people and schools: the maximum duration for every film is 20 minutes, including the final credits.
Movies are accepted in any language, but they must be subtitled in Italian or in English.
Films admitted to the Official selection must be sent in a version with Italian subtitles.
Screenplays: it is possible to submit screenplays for both short films or feature films. Original screenplays for short films must be no longer than 30 pages, whereas screenplays for feature films must be longer than 30 pages.
Also, scripts for TV series are admitted for both: pilot or pilot + all episodes.
Screenplays must be in English or in Italian.
5 – Film submissions:
The film can be submitted:
a – through one of the platforms cooperating with Firenze FilmCorti Festival (Film Freeway, Withoutabox, Movibeta, Click for Festival, Festhome, Reelport, Cinemabreve etc.).
b – by the applicants themselves, by sending the work directly to the Festival email firstname.lastname@example.org
The films must be available online on Vimeo or through other links. Films can also be sent via WeTransfer.
In this case, the applicant must send, together with the film, the following:
a brief summary describing the features of the work
receipt of payment of the Submission fee.
Applicants should pay a fee of Euro 25.00.

- In case the applicant chose to apply through one of the platforms previously mentioned, the entry fee might be stated on the site, and it will likely be in US $;
Incomplete submissions (missing parts of the requested documentation) will not be taken into consideration

6 – Preservation of the material and ‘Authors Corner’
All the material submitted will not be returned. It will be held in the archive of the Association which will be responsible for the preservation of the material, and the processing of the personal data of the applicants.
Trailers or other material (with the exclusion for the whole film) may be published or released for disclosure and advertising purposes on the Rive Gauche-Film and Critique blog (https://rivegauche-filmecritica.com), on the Festival website (http://www.firenzefilmcortifestival.com.) and on the Association Newtwork, Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Linkedin pages.
Every filmmaker can write something about their work or send photos or trailer for the “Authors corner” on the Festival website. The material can be sent to:
7 – Awards
The works will be selected and shortlisted by a Jury that will decide the Official Selection.
The shortlisted works will be judged by three Juries:
One Jury for the categories a, b, c, d mentioned in the Section 2 of the Rules and Regulations
One Jury for the Screenplays category (‘e’)
One Jury for the Spazio Giovani (Young category – ‘f’).
All the shortlisted films (Official Selection) will receive the attendance laurels.

Award for 2nd and 3rd place for Young Category: : personalised plate and official certificate of attendance.
Award for Best Screenplay: Euro 500 and Ink Tip Package.
2nd place and 3rd place: InkTip Package (it means the screenplay will be sent to the film production companies) and a personalized plate.
The Best Screenplay in Italian for a feature film will win the 4th ‘Elena Bertoldi special prize’ – commemorating the young Screenwriter Elena Bertoldi, passed away years ago.
8 – The opinion of the Jury, made up by experts, will be unquestionable.
